She started as vocalist for HYP. A secular band. Then her own Barbie’s cradle. Another secular band. Now she’s gone solo. She used to sing clearly (witness HYP’s “Torpe”) – I could still understand the lyrics. But after HYP, the Alanis influence took hold. I can still understand the lyrics a bit – specially in the happier songs (w/c I hope would be more abundant in future albums — I WISH!) — but mostly she sing in this vocoder -influenced style –last heard in Tricia Amper’s debut. Hey, that’s a long time ago!
Now, going corporate, her promoters are going to try to fill up the country’s largest indoor venue (which really really needs to be upgraded to its sister GATEWAY’s status). God bless to them (well, this is a CHRISTIAN BLOG!).
New rockers Rocksteddy will also be there. Andres Bulate, who happens to be a good Spoken Word dude is the lead singer. We featured him in NU 107’s Against the Flow about twice! As for the band, I was able to hear them live at PGIF *Praise God its Friday. They sang their OTHER songs there.
I wasn’t able to hear any more spoken word portions – w/c is too bad because its the FIRST TIME I’ve heard that in a mainstream song. They should capitalize on it. Or at least, andres, practice some more lines so you can add it to your live gigs. Spoken word is the NEW RAP.
Ah, Kitchie Nadal is helping out as well. We hope all things are well done.
